Many questions get asked by visitors to church, newcomers to town, and friends and neighbors of our members. Here’s a list of questions that may help you get to know Trinity Lutheran Church.

What should I wear? How formal is your gathering?

What you wear is completely up to you. People in our church family wear a variety of clothes from suits & ties to jeans & t-shirts. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Do I have to belong to your denomination to attend?

Not at all! In fact, many in our congregation come from a church background other than Lutheran. We have many former Catholics, Presbyterians and Methodists among others.

Can a visitor take communion?

Yes! We take communion each week as a tangible reminder of God’s gift to us in Jesus Christ. We believe in open communion – that means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to take communion, whether they are a church member or not.

Questions regarding donations through tlcvernon.org:

When I make a donation through tlcvernon.org to Trinity Lutheran Church, what security measures are taken to protect my personal information?

Trinity Lutheran Church servers are secured by GeoTrust™ Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption certificates. We use industry leading TLS AES-256 encryption when transferring payment information between web browsers, Stripe (our credit card processor) and your bank.

In addition, TLC never stores any of your financial information, such as full credit card numbers and security codes (CVV numbers). This information is encrypted throughout the process and plain text credit card and CVV numbers are never available to TLC or Stripe.

How can I submit payment if I am not comfortable providing credit card/financial information through your website?

TLC will always accept payment in the form of checks payable to ‘Trinity Lutheran Church’ and mail to the following address.  Please include in the ‘memo’ section what cause the donation is for.

Trinity Lutheran Church
20 Meadowlark Rd.
Vernon, CT 06066

Please make sure you include an email address, your mailing address and a phone number in case we need to reach you.

Can I receive a refund if I change my mind about the donation?

Unfortunately, we are unable to process refunds.

Why do I see the word “Stripe” on my receipt or on my credit/debit card statement?

Stripe is the credit card processing company we use to process all credit cards. They act as an intermediary between TLC and your credit card issuing company/bank. Your credit card information is encrypted as it passes through the Stripe processing system whereby neither TLC nor Stripe has access to your plain text credit card or security code numbers (CVV).

How do I confirm my payment was submitted?

A receipt will automatically be emailed to the email address provided during the payment process.
