Born in nearby Rockville General Hospital, Gary grew up in Ellington, CT. He married Lynn in 1981, moved to Rockville, and together have been active in youth ministry for over three decades. Their two daughters – Katie and Megan – are married and live in Nothboro, MA and Bethesda, MD, respectively. He has sung in choirs since his elementary school days at Saint Joseph School in Rockville, and became a choir accompanist while attending Ellington High. His primary instruments are keyboards, and he also plays bass. He studied piano from fourth grade through high school, and managed to study music while majoring in Accounting at the University of Connecticut. Gary has been lead vocalist and instrumentalist for Starlite, a local dance band since they started performing in 1976. He is a DJ, karaoke host, emcee and does live solo performances as well.
Gary’s first church Music DIrector opportunity was at Ellington’s St. Luke Church. He led their adult and children’s choirs, instrumentalists, and cantors for over three years. In addition, he did solo worship music leadership at St. Luke’s masses. He continues to substitute for their current church musicians there. When Trinity Lutheran Church’s organist retired in 2002, he was asked to take that position. Gary accompanies the adult choir, leads the bands for cantatas and musical dramas, and writes and arranges music for TLC’s Sunday School Singers & Ringers. In addition, he established and continues to direct two Sunday morning Praise Teams, and the student bands that lead Sunday evening worship services. He coordinates various instrumentalist activity for festive worship services and other services throughout the church year.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God. (Colossians 3:16)
